Penn Hills Man Charged in Ross Shooting

Police have arrested the suspect in a December robbery-turned shooting in Ross.

A Penn Hills man was arrested and charged on Wednesday on charges of shooting a store employee in a December attempted robbery of an entertainment store in Ross.

George A. Wilson, 31, is charged with entering The Exchange, in the 4800 block of McKnight Road in Ross, and attempting to rob the store, then shooting the employee when he couldn’t get the cash register opened quickly enough, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. After shooting the employee, Mike Allen, 23, Wilson fled the scene.

Wilson is being charged with attempted homicide, reckless endangerment, robbery and aggravated assault, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Allen was critically injured in the shooting, but was conscious and alert when taken to a hospital, police said.

Police tracked down Wilson while investigating similar robberies in Monroeville, Wilkins and Pittsburgh, the Tribune-Review said. Additionally, ballistics on a weapon recovered after the Wilkins robbery matched the shell casing recovered at Ross Township robbery.

According to the Post-Gazette, Wilson is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bail. He is set to appear in court on Feb. 11.
