Pittsburgh Travelers Face Delays as Storm Hits East Coast
Flight cancellations and delays mount as winter storm hits on the Eve of Thanksgiving.

Cato, the first named winter storm of the season, has begun dropping snow across northeast United States and impacting Thanksgiving Holiday travel all over the country.
Pittsburgh travelers are facing some cancellations and delayed flights as they travel for this holiday. As of 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday, there were two cancelled and one delayed departing flights and six cancelled and five delayed arriving flights, according to the airport’s website.
With much disruption at airports along the East Coast, including airports in New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., FlightStats.com reports more than 500 flights were cancelled and more than 2,400 flights were delayed as of 12:30 p.m., according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The National Weather Service is forecasting less than a half inch of snow in Pittsburgh, but areas closer to the coast are forecasted to receive much more snow. The NWS issued a winter weather advisory for New York City. The forecast for the New York City area is calling for precipitation, but little or no sleet accumulation, with a possible 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulating overnight.
For those travelling by car and not by air, PennDOT is urging Pennsylvania residents to consider altering their travel plans or leave early on Thursday morning. In eastern Pennsylvania, the DOT issued speed limit restrictions on a number of highways.
