Transportation options for individuals with special needs the focus of upcoming presentation
JF&CS and JRS will co-present the program as part of the educational series AIM: Support for Families of Individual with Special Needs
Transportation options for individuals with special needs is the topic of an upcoming program co-presented by Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JF&CS) and Jewish Residential Services (JRS) as part of the educational series AIM: Support for Families of Individuals with Special Needs.
The presentation will be held on Monday, October 26th from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the JF&CS offices in Squirrel Hill (5743 Bartlett Street, Pittsburgh, 15217).
Featured speakers include Karen Hoesch, Executive Director of ACCESS Transportation Systems, who will discuss eligibility and services provided for those with special needs and disabilities through all of the Port Authority systems, including the Medical Assistance Transportation Program (MATP), as well as Madonna Long of Star Transportation Group, who will discuss how her organization provides accessible transportation for those with special needs and disabilities.

“As transportation options are being discussed, evaluated and changed in our region, it’s imperative that individuals with special needs are not excluded from the conversation, and that they know what options are available to them,” said Linda Marino, resource coordinator at JF&CS. “We hope those with special needs and their loved ones will come away from this presentation with a concrete sense of the current options that exist in our community, as well as information on new ways to find affordable, safe transportation that encourages their independence.”
