Philadelphia Union To Allow Fans In Stadium Starting Sunday

CHESTER, PA — The Philadelphia Union will be the first Philadelphia sports team to allow fans to attend games in person, starting this weekend.

The team announced Subaru Park in Chester will be open to a limited amount of fans for the Union's Sunday game against the Montreal Impact.

Gov. Tom Wolf recently gave the OK for outdoor sports venues to allow fans in them at 15 percent capacity limit.

Fifteen percent capacity at Subaru park means about 2,775 people — which includes fans, working staff, and teams — can be in attendance of Sunday’s game.

Strict safety protocols will be in place for each game. The protocols were created in consultation with local health officials, Major League Soccer, and the league’s health and safety experts.

"Philadelphia Union fans are the heartbeat of this organization and we are thrilled to be able to open the doors of Subaru Park after a long hiatus," Philadelphia Union President Tim McDermott said. "We appreciate the guidance and support of Governor Wolf and public health officials in making this possible. The health and safety of our fans, players, coaches, and staff is our number one priority. We have worked tirelessly to implement a set of strict guidelines and procedures that will ensure that fans can watch the team they love comfortably and safely."

All attendees must wear a mask at all times in Subaru Park, except when actively eating or drinking, and will receive a temperature check upon gate arrival.

Seats have been spaced out throughout the bowl to allow for 6 feet of distance in all directions for each seated party.

Additionally, all previous touch points between staff and fans have been eliminated; fans will now arrive with a mobile ticket and parking pass, walk through security metal detectors, and only be able to purchase concessions via credit or debit card.

Season Ticket Members in the applicable on-sale waves will be eligible to purchase any available location in Subaru Park including locations outside of their current level/price point/location. Any tickets available following the initial Season Ticket Member on-sale wave will then be made available to the public.

All tickets and parking passes for originally scheduled 2020 Philadelphia Union regular-season games matches are no longer valid and corresponding credits or other transactions, as applicable, have been processed. Fans will be prompted to select a prepaid parking pass when selecting their tickets.

No tailgating will be permitted in the Subaru Park parking lots.
