Fatal Lower Saucon House Fire Leaves One Dead

Authorities are investigating a late Monday night house fire in Lower Saucon.

A fire tore through a Lower Saucon home late Monday night, leaving at least one person dead, authorities said.

The fire was reported shortly before 11 p.m. at a home in the 1400 block of East University Avenue, according to The Express-Times.

Se-Wy-Co Fire Company Deputy Chief Brian Evans said no firefighters were injured while battling the fire, The Express-Times said. Ammunition was reportedly going off inside the East University Avenue home during the blaze, The Express Times said.

The fire was extinguished by 4:30 a.m., Evans said according to The Express-Times.

In addition to Se-Wy-Co, Southeastern, Steel City, Upper Saucon, Nancy Run, Eastern Salisbury and Springtown firefighters reported to the fire. Authorities hope to have more information regarding the house fire later Tuesday or Wednesday.
