Hear Memories of Bethlehem Steel Workers

Lower Saucon Town Hall will host a program by the Speakers Bureau of Bethlehem's Steelworker Archives on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7pm.

Have you ever wondered what it was like to work at Bethlehem Steel, which at one time was the second biggest steel manufacturer in the U.S.?

You'll have a chance on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7pm, when Lower Saucon Town Hall hosts a program about the company's working men and women.

The program will be presented by the Speakers Bureau of the Steelworker Archives in Bethlehem, and among the speakers will be Lester Core, who was a rigger for Bethlehem Steel.

Core and four other former workers will share their experiences working for the iconic company, which was in decline in the 1980s and closed most of its operations in the 1990s. The speakers will also present a video featuring interviews in which working and living in South Bethlehem are discussed.

The event will be co-sponsored by the Lower Saucon Township Historical Society and the Saucon Valley Conservancy. Guests are welcome and refreshments will be served.
