Three South Whitehall Officers Suspended, One Demoted
Several South Whitehall police officers were punished for violating township police policy.

Three South Whitehall Township police officers were suspended and one demoted for violating township police policy at a Board of Commissioners meeting on May 20, according to a report by the Morning Call.
David Gross received the harshest punishment, a five-day unpaid suspension and the demotion from sergeant to officer. Officers Richard Meckes and Jason Grozier received two-day unpaid suspensions. The commissioners gave police officials discretion on when to enact the suspensions.
Board President Christina Tori Morgan referred to township police policy in bringing the suspensions to vote.

The men are being punished for “neglect or violation of official duties and inefficiency, neglect, intemperance, disobedience of orders and/or conduct unbecoming of an officer,” she said.
Information about the specific reason for the suspensions and demotion was not made available.
