LANSDALE, PA — One unnamed benefactor is doing big things for the greater Lansdale area community.

An anonymous donor has agreed to match up to $15,000 in donations to the North Penn YMCA. Officials say the funds will prove crucial in offering services to a broader swath of the region.

“We are honored and humbled that an anonymous donor has offered to match gifts up to $15,000 during this challenging time,” said North Penn YMCA CEO Bob Gallagher. “Thanks to our contributors, we’ll be able to provide financial assistance to many more community members in need.”

The donation match period will continue from now through Tuesday, Dec. 1, or "Giving Tuesday."

The Dec. 1 date coincides with the YMCA's Pedal for a Purpose Event, which aims to raise money for the YMCA to provide memberships and programs to those from lower income backgrounds.

Pedal for a Purpose will be in its fifth year in 2020, and participants will have three options: bike on a stationary or recumbent bike at Indian Valley or Lansdale Area YMCA, or participate virtually from home.

Donations to the program can be made here.

The YMCA has also offered increased services during the pandemic to assist parents, including child care options for students in online classes.
