Flash Flood Warning In Lansdale Area As Heavy Storms Move Through

A strong Thursday morning thunderstorm that dumped up to three inches of rain in the area could again cause flash flooding issues.

LANSDALE, PA — A strong Thursday morning thunderstorm that dumped up to three inches of rain in the local area could again cause flash flooding in the area and threaten roadways.

The Lansdale area was specifically noted as at risk to Thursday's storms by the National Weather Service, as well as Montgomeryville, Kulpsville, Harleysville, Telford, Hatfield, Souderton, and parts of central Bucks County.

"Multiple roads have been reported as flooded and closed by local emergency management. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen based on radar and gauge estimates," the National Weather Service said in its Flash Flood Warning. "Flash flooding is already occurring and expected to continue."

Flooding of small creeks and streams as well as streets is possible, the National Weather Service added, meaning local waterways like Towamencin Creek and the Wissahickon are once again at risk.

The Flash Flood Warning remains in place through 1 p.m. Another inch of rain is possible this morning, forecasters say.
