Hatfield Gets $100k Grant To Improve Trail System, Connect Parks

Hatfield is getting a significant sum of money to improve its trail system and make the area more walkable.

Hatfield, PA - Hatfield Township has received $100,000 from the Montco 2040 Grant Award to help improve their trail system and connect existing parks, facilities, and other locatiosn.

The township said the grant would build additional segments onto their existing trail system to connect township recreational facilities, a business park, residential areas, and the county’s Liberty Bell Trail in Hatfield.

The county will also extend the Chestnut Street Trail out of Hatfield Community Park by putting in sidewalks on Maple Street and a painted shoulder on Chestnut Street, according to their website.

This will connect those areas to Hatfield and the county trail.

Frick’s Trail will then be extended out of the residential areas along Route 309 to connect them with the Chestnut Street Trail.

The borough noted that the project, identified in the Walk Montco plan, is consistent with the goals of the Hatfield Township-Hatfield Borough Greenway and Trails Network Master Plan where both trail extensions were specifically recommended.
