Hatfield Police Mourn Death Of Beloved Officer
The recently retired Sgt David R. McCreesh was intensely proud of his family, and had a deep passion for serving the community, police said.
HATFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Hatfield Township Police Department mourned the loss of one of its beloved officers who passed away early Sunday morning.
Sgt. David R. McCreesh, who retired in 2017, had served the local community for 27 years, dating back to 1990. He is remembered by his wife, Selena, and three children, Kacie, Kylie, and David, who were his passion.
"Dave wore his family on his sleeve, he always spoke proudly of them," Hatfield Police shared in a tribute to McCreesh, posted online Tuesday. "Dave was a great husband and father; it was always family first. Dave was the epitome of a family man."

McCreesh filled a wide variety of roles during his police career, including as a member of the Highway Safety Unit, DUI task force, county homicide by vehicle task force, bureau of narcotics investigation unit, and the photography unit, police said. He was also a hostage negotiator and weigh master, and a "valued confidant" to all four police chiefs he served under, the department said.
Over the weekend, a caravan of dozens of police cars, public works trucks, local motorcycle groups, and friends drove by McCreesh's home in honor of his life.
