Hatfield Quality Meats Adding $228M New Facility, 87 New Jobs
A new, $228 million facility is coming to Hatfield, with the state touting a boon for the local economy.
HATFIELD, PA — A major meat producer headquartered in Montgomery County has announced plans to expand its local operations and bring new jobs into the area economy.
The Clemens Food Group, which owns Hatfield Quality Meats, will build a new $228 million facility in Hatfield as part of their growing smoked meats and cooked sausage production.
A total of 87 new jobs will be added by the move, which was facilitated by state grants. Gov. Tom Wolf praised the company.

“Clemens Food Group is a family-owned business that has been a staple in its community for over a century—founded in Hatfield, built on hard work, and committed to offering quality foods from responsible farming practices,” he said.
The new jobs will be added over the next three years, and the 2,634 positions currently in the facility will be maintained.

The state provided both a $215,400 workforce development grant to help the company train new workers, and $2.5 million from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program to facilitate the project.
Officials also noted that Clemens has provided $100,000 in pork products to food banks around the state during the pandemic.
“This is a great example of how agricultural processors impact not only the food on our tables and in our stores, but our workforce in Pennsylvania..." Agriculture Secretary Russell Reading said in a statement.
Founded in Hatfield, Clemens has been family owned for six generations. It now has a network of more than 25 farms throughout Pennsylvania, Indiana, and North Carolina.
