LANSDALE, PA — Joe Judge, a graduate of Lansdale Catholic High School, made national headlines Tuesday when reports indicated he will become the new head coach of the New York Giants.

Judge, 37, was a quarterback for the Lansdale Catholic football team and a member of the class of 2000.

Judge has coached for the Patriots since 2012, and he was their assistant special teams coach for three years and special teams coordinator for four years. In 2018, he was promoted to become the Patriots' receivers coach.

"Lansdale Catholic High School could not be prouder of our very own Joe Judge," the school said Tuesday. "The Crusader family pride is strong today."

He's won three Super Bowl rings in five appearances on the sport's biggest stage in that time. He also spent three seasons with coach Nick Saban at Alabama, from 2009 to 2011.

Judge's family members are also part of the Lansdale Catholic community. His niece Mackenzie Judge is in the class of 2021 at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer, and his nephew Jake Judge is class of 2023 at MMR. His mom, Denise Judge, is principal at MMR.

It's just the latest NFL connection for the Lansdale area, which has proved especially fruitful in producing elite talent on the gridiron.

And Sean McDermott, head coach of the Buffalo Bills and former Eagles coach, grew up in the Lansdale area and attended La Salle College High School.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Giants are finalizing the deal that was "in the works" on Monday night.

The hiring is noteworthy for Eagles fans even outside of the local connection, as the Birds play their division rival Giants and Judge twice a year.
