LANSDALE, PA — Major funding from the state aims to boost tourism and interest in the Lansdale area.
Discover Lansdale has received a $14,310 grant to design and build a new town welcome center, officials announced.
The center will be located in the 1902 Reading Freight House, which will be renovated and used as both a public center and a private facility to host events and raise operational funds.

“The Reading Freight House is among the most iconic and visible structures in our community, so it’s the perfect place to welcome travelers or anyone just passing through our area,” State Rep. Steve Malagari said in a statement announcing the funding. “Lansdale has a rich history and its own unique personality, so I am hopeful that a welcome center will attract others to the area who will see that.”
The state disbursed the funds through the Keystone Historic Preservation grant program, which is used to repurpose and renovate historic sites around the state.
