Lansdale Issues Snow Alert; Vehicles Must Be Moved
A snow alert is in effect in Lansdale as the region braces for its first major snowstorm in a long time. Here's what you need to know.
LANSDALE, PA — A snow alert is in effect in Lansdale and several surrounding municipalities as the region braces for its first major snowstorm in a long time.
The Lansdale alert is in effect starting at noon on Wednesday. Vehicles cannot park on any street where signage indicates "no parking during a snow alert" to allow for plowing. No parking is permitted on many side streets throughout the borough as well.
Plowing will commence first on those emergency routes.

Nearby, Hatfield and Montgomery Township have also declared an emergency effective at noon Wednesday (see full list of Montgomery Township snow emergency routes here). Hatfield roads which must be cleared of vehicles include:
- Forty Foot Road
- North Broad Street
- County Line Road
- Orvilla Road
- Cowpath Road (from Line Street to Hatfield Borough line)
- Welsh Road (Route 63)
- Bethlehem Pike (Route 309)
North Wales' emergency, meanwhile, went into effect at 10 a.m. Main and Walnut streets must be cleared. Towamencin's started at 1 p.m. and will run until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Vehicles not removed from the emergency routes could be towed.
The Lansdale area is slated to see 8 to 14 inches of snow, with the first downfall expected after 2 p.m., according to the latest forecast Wednesday morning from the National Weather Service.

Residents are asked to be neighborly and check on any elderly neighbors. If you see any downed wires, stay away and call Lansdale Electric at 215-361-8372 with the location.
Regarding snow shoveling in Lansdale, here are a few points to keep in mind as you grab those shovels. According to the municipal code:
- The owners, agents-in-charge, tenants or occupiers of all properties in the Borough of Lansdale shall clear or cause to be cleared a pathway on the sidewalk on their respective properties in the event of snow. Such pathways shall not be less than 30 inches in width and shall be thoroughly cleared of snow and ice or covered with salt, sawdust or similar materials.
