Lansdale Man Opens Gourmet Food Truck, Fights Food Insecurity

Local resident Dan Lynch left corporate America with a mission: set an example for his children and while helping the local community.

LANSDALE, PA — Montgomery County resident Dan Lynch had a few things in mind when he decided to leave corporate America behind in search of a life he would find more fulfilling.

He wanted to set an example for his children. He wanted to support the community and bring people together. And he wanted it to involve something he was passionate about: food.

The result is a unique cross between a charitable endeavor and a restaurant, but on wheels. The "Roll 'M Up" food truck officially launched this month, and will tour around Montgomery and Bucks counties

“We roll to feed your soul,” said Lynch, a 35-year-old Lansdale resident.

The menu is diverse, and was put together with help from local chef Keith Taylor. It has a lengthy egg roll section including cheesesteak, buffalo chicken, and "South Philly" roast pork options. That's in addition to grilled wraps, jalapeno pepper empanadas, mac and cheese, and s'mores empanadas for dessert. There's also a kids menu (see their full menu and schedule of locations online here).

But it's more than just a food truck. Lynch is partnering with Manna on Main Street by collecting non-perishable food items from customers at various events in which the food truck participates. He'll then donate items to the cupboard, which aims to end hunger and provide other vital social services throughout the North Penn region.

Furthermore, he's also donating prepared items like chicken, steak, and more directly to the pantry himself.

"There’s so much food in this world, and somehow people in our own backyards don’t have enough to eat," Lynch added.

Lynch was adamant that the truck is a family effort, as his wife Kate manages the books, schedule, and social media, while he also finds ways for his children to help. He said that he was inspired by his father, who he watched run his own business and work late nights to support his family.

"One of the main reasons I did this was to set an example of hard work for my children," Lynch said. "I want to show them it’s OK to work hard for your family, and that’s one reason I’m so committed to this venture."

Lynch hopes to expand into the surrounding area as more people become familiar with his food.
