Local Filmmakers' Feature-Length Horror Movie Is Set In Lansdale

LANSDALE, PA — A duo of local filmmakers has produced a horror movie set almost entirely in the Lansdale area, and they're raising money to submit it to festivals.
"Designated Driver," described by its makers as a love letter to classic slasher films of the 1970s and 1980s, comes from the minds of Diego Brazzo and Greg Poppa.
Brazzo and Poppa met through mutual friends in high school, and they've collaborated on numerous projects in the years since, including their first feature film, "Let's Have an Adventure," which was released on Amazon Prime.

Their latest venture follows a group of friends who go out drinking, and find themselves being hunted by a masked individual.
Brazzo, who directed and edited the film (Poppa wrote it and is the lead actor), said that the greatest challenge they faced getting the project off the ground were the compromises that needed to made.

"You write a script, not really thinking of how practical it would be to make, especially on our schedule and budget, only to constantly rewrite and scale back scenes," he said.
While Lansdale is not explicity mentioned in the movie, most of the scenes are local, and the duo imagines the film as being set there. In one scene, there's a mention of Unami Creek.
The pair noted John Carpenter, maker of "Halloween" and "The Thing," and Sam Raimi, who helmed "Evil Dead," "Army of Darkness," and "Spider Man," as major influences.
Right now, blurays and VHS tapes of the film are available for pre-order. An Indiegogo campaign has been launched with a goal of $5,000. Funds will go towards making the blurays, paying film festival entry fees, and covering traveling expenses to horror conventions.
