Major PA Resorts Reopening In Poconos This Weekend

PENNSYLVANIA — As the state slowly recovers from the coronavirus outbreak and parts of life in Pennsylvania begin to return to a new normal, a few major resorts are reopening its doors this weekend.

Camelback Resort, in the Poconos, officially reopened its Camelback Lodge hotel on Friday, June 12. Their Mountain Adventures park, featuring a mountain roller coaster, reopens on Saturday, June 13. Among Camelback's features is the Appalachian Express Mountain Coaster, which includes a 4,500 foot steel track, as well the longest zipline in Pennsylvania. Socially distanced dining options within Camelback inclue Hemispheres, Colonial Commons, Graffiti Pizza, Flyboys, and Neptunes.

In addition, Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in Pocono Manor is planning a reopening on Friday, June 19. They are offering 20 percent off overnight stays through much of the summer. They offer an outdoor water park, pool, stand-alone bungalows, zip lining, mini golf, rope courses, and more.

Great Wolf Lodge Poconos is also opening up on June 19. They have a 401-room resort, an 80,000 square foot indoor water park, numerous options for socially distant dining, and more.

Like other facilities that have reopened in the yellow and green phases of eased coronavirus mitigation measures, Camelback Lodge Kalahari Resort, and Great Wolf will be operating at a limited capacity. Officials say there will be no crowds, with numerous precautions in place.

Disinfectants will be available throughout the resorts, all guests will receive a wellness screening when they arrive, everyone is asked to wear a face mask, and social distancing guidelines should be followed at all times.

Later this summer, Camelback's resort will be fully reopen, officials plan. The Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark is scheduled for a June 19 reopening and Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark is set to open its doors on July 1. Arcadia Adventures, an indoor entertainment venue wiht a climbing adventures and virtual reality experiences, is set to open June 19 as well.
