Stumping for Joe Biden at a home in Montgomery County this weekend, Andrew Yang called the local area a "battleground of battlegrounds."

NORTH WALES, PA — Rallying supporters on a rainy Sunday in Montgomery County, former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang underlined the importance of the region to the final outcome of the 2020 election.

"The future of our country is in your hands, right here in Montgomery County, in this battleground of battlegrounds," Yang said from the porch of a home in North Wales, to a small group of umbrella-toting supporters standing in the yard.

An entrepreneur who gained a surprise following during the Democratic primary in 2019, Yang sought to marshal support for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris by articulating again his own distinct vision for America.

"I ran for president in large part because of the problems that have been growing here in Pennsylvania," Yang said. "Donald Trump won here in part because he acknowledged the problems, but he has nothing in the way of real solutions."

The 45-year-old Yang's campaign often struck the same note, pointing to the loss of manufacturing jobs, the looming spectre of automation, and the changing nature of the economy in Rust Belt states as one of the most important issues facing the future of the nation.

Yang acknowledged his differences with both Biden and Harris, a tip of the cap to his own fervent following, but was also explicit in his support, calling both Democrats his personal friends.

"I'd much rather be in a position to push my friends to do something about these problems, than try and push Donald Trump," he added.

Yang also expressed support for local Democratic candidates Rep. Steve Malagari, Jonathan Kassa, and Nina Ahmed.

Yang's visit came a day before a Democratic "barnstorm" in Pennsylvania on Monday, in which Joe Biden and Jill Biden campaigned in Pittsburgh, and Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff made stops in Montgomery and Lancaster counties before heading to a Philadelphia drive-in event with artist John Legend to end the night.

President Trump was in Bucks County himself on Tuesday, while Melania Trump made a recent campaign stop in Chester County. Former US Ambassador to the United Nations and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley campaigned for Trump in East Norriton last week, while Trump's daughter Tiffany campaigned in Flourtown.
