The Montgomery Mall

I was shocked by the amount of closed stores

I think the death of retail brick and mortar is hitting the Montgomery Mall. I was shopping in the Montgomery Mall on December 23, 2019. I was shocked by the amount of closed stores. I counted 13 empty shops. I also counted 3 to four other stores about to close. The Sears is set to close soon. The calendar place is only a pop up. Some store I forget the name was having a going out of business sale.

To me the arcade looks like the mall owners the Simon group just put games in that space. That is a good idea. I think the arcade would be better with more retro games Pac-Man, Out-Run Space invaders. Only older people go out shoppingThe two most prominent spaces in the food court are closed.I watch dead mall videos on you tube. This is not a dead mall but I think it is a dying mall. As a long time shopper at the mall it makes me sad. Does anyone else remember the mall before the elevator was put in? The space where the elevator is now had a spiral ramp up to the second floor.I also went to the King of Presha mall and only noticed one empty shop. The Cherry Hill mall only had two empty spaces that I noticed. The Nordstrom's had a big space by the door set up for people to pick up orders made on-line.I think the only thing that can save the brick and mortar shopping spaces is a good experience. I was in the Dicks sporting goods. The line to check out was too long. They should have twice as many sale systems. If you are trying to compete with Amazon you can’t have lines. If I owned the mall I would demand the stores to have more POS systems.
