Mosquito Spraying Scheduled in North Wales

North Wales will be sprayed to control mosquito populations and limit the spread of West Nile Virus in the area.

The Montgomery County Health Department will execute the spraying in areas that have been identified to have high mosquito populations.

Spraying will occurr on Monday, August 29 from 8:15 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and will also take place in Upper Gwynedd.

The alternate date will be Tuesday, September 6, 2016.

The equipment dispenses Duet Dual-Action Adulticide at a rate of 0.75 ounces per acre.

Officials said that the chemicals have a "very low" toxicity profile to mammals, and will have "negligible" impact to non-target insects and the environment.

Officials hope the spraying reduces the transmission of West Nile Virus, which is frequently carried by mosquitoes.
