SOUDERTON, PA — A new gourmet burger shop is opening up in Souderton.

The Burger Shop is putting down roots on 162 N. Main Street, and they're holding an opening day celebration on Thursday, March 14. Free burgers will be given out at noon to all customers.

The shop is the project of owner Giuseppe Chiaro, the owner of Caruso Brick Oven Trattoria on N. Main Street since 2004.

"The local food scene has really matured in Souderton over the past couple of years, but the area was still missing something,” Chiaro said in a statement. “I want The Burger Shop to be a place where businesspeople, teenagers and families from the neighborhood can join us for lunch or dinner a few times per week."

The store will be organized around a large center counter where guests choose their type of burger, type of protein (eggplant "burgers," and the plant-based Beyond Meat burger will be available), cheese, and various toppings.

In-house products include fountain drinks, milkshakes, and root beer floats.

Chiaro is hopeful The Burger Shop will help Souderton's food scene continue to thrive.

"As the Indian Valley has grown, our friends, family members and neighbors have been pushing us to open another dining destination," Chiaro added. "We’re launching this business for Souderton."

In addition, the store will feature a 1980-s style arcade console, with 60 vintage games.

Seating is available for 20 guests inside, with around 20 more seats available outside in warmer months.

There will be a few brief days of closure as "finishing touches" are put on the eatery following the opening celebration. The formal opening is set for Monday, March 18.
