Norristown Doctor, Blue Bell Resident Kevin Melnick Passes At 61

BLUE BELL, PA — A beloved local doctor and longtime resident Kevin Melnick has passed away at age 61.

Melnick practiced medicine for decades in the area, recently at Norristown Family Physicians based in Einstein Medical Center Montgomery.

He was named a Top Doctor by Philly Magazine, and also by Castle Connolly.

He graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1983, and went on to complete his residency in family medicine at Suburban General Hospital in Pittsburgh before embarking on a long and successful career in the local area.

The Collegeville Italian Bakery Pizzeria Napoletana changed their sign out front to honor Melnick Monday.

"We are forever grateful to him and will miss him dearly," they wrote. "What a legacy he has left behind. The countless lives he has touched over the course of his career, always caring for his patients with compassion and kindness. We are sending all our love to the Melnick family during this difficult time. "

Dr. Kevin R. Melnick, of Blue Bell, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, January 11, 2019. He was 61 years old. Born in Norristown, he was the son of Jacob and Mildred (Branca) Melnick. He was also the beloved husband of Valerie (Pupek) Melnick.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kevin Melnick, Jr. and Zachary Melnick; and his daughter, Alexandra Melnick.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:50 AM at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main Street, Norristown, PA 19401.

A Funeral Mass will follow on Saturday at 12 Noon.
