North Penn Fire Company Gets $1M Grant For Station Improvements
Officials are hopeful the funds will also help the Fire Company expand their volunteer firefighting corps.
NORTH WALES, PA — The North Penn Volunteer Fire Company has received a major grant from the state to assist with numerous improvements to the station.
The $1 million grant will help first responders add a radio room, a bay window for radio operators to see out of, ADA parking spaces and entrances, roof improvements, and more.
Officials are hopeful the funds will also help expand the Company's firefighting corps.

"It’s easy to forget that most of our local fire companies are made up of volunteers,” State Sen. Maria Collett said in announcing the funding. “This grant to the North Penn Volunteer Fire Company will not only help them improve their physical facilities, it will help them recruit and retain new members.
Hanbidge worked alongside State Sen. Maria Collett to bring the funds to North Penn. The pair also helped the domestic violence shelter Laurel House in East Norriton receive an identical $1 million grant for facility improvements.

The funds come from the state's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, which is administered by the Office of the Budget for economic, cultural, and civic improvement projects statewide.
