North Penn Gets $23K Grant For School Safety Measures
The funds will help the school district purchase equipment that will enhance the safety of outdoor events, they said.
LANSDALE, PA — The North Penn School District has a received a significant grant from the state aimed at improving student safety.
The $23,500 will help the school district purchase equipment that will enhance the safety of outdoor events, officials said. This includes activities in multipurpose stadium facilities, athletic events, and other instructional activities at Crawford Stadium and elsewhere.
“Quality 21st century facilities need modern, nimble solutions to ensure a vibrant and safe environment,” said school board member Jonathan Kassa. “This grant will help to extend our comprehensive safe schools strategy to cover essential spaces central to community and school activities enjoyed by tens of thousands of students, residents and guests each year.”

The funds from the Pennsylvania Department of Education Office of Safe Schools.
Video surveillance equipment is among the items that will be purchased, along with "mass notification" equipment that will be able to broadcast important messages to occupants of the outdoor stadium areas, officials said. Rollout of these measures is expected by June.
