North Wales Area Library Events

North Wales Area Library has several events taking place in the coming weeks.

The North Wales Area Library, located at 233 S. Swartley St. in North Wales, will hold several literacy, library fundraising and health-focused events, including the return of Tai Chi for Arthritis Classes for both new and advanced students.

  • Blood Pressure Screening – 4th Tuesday afternoon of each month, 1-2 PM-April 23.  The NP Visiting Nurse Association will offer free blood pressure screening at the Library.  No appointment or fee.
  • Get a new eReader or Smartphone? Library eBooks and audiobooks for these devices are available for free through the library!  Books are compatible with all Nooks, Kindles, tablets, iPods, iPhones and androids. Ask at the circulation desk for an instruction sheet for your specific device, all you need is a current library card!  Having trouble getting started?  Stop by the library any Monday 5 PM on for one-on-one help. 
  • Love Downton Abbey? Join us in the library community rooms each Monday for about an hour per session of Season 2 starting April 8.  The series pits hundreds of years of British aristocracy against the tides of social upheaval and technical progress, under the looming shadow of WWI, will the fate of Downton and its family – above and below stairs-be resolved? Sign up to view.  2 PM showing.
  • Tai Chi for Arthritis Classes – Sign up now for Level 2 classes beginning Monday, May 6 at 10 AM and Thursday, May 9 at 5:45 PM.  A new Level 1 (6 hour) Saturday class will be offered on April 20 and May 4 from 10-1.  Attending both workshops is a prerequisite to join an ongoing class.  Current participants are welcome to attend to review and deepen their practice. The cost for this class is $15.0/each. Bring your lunch and water, snack and tea provided. This is a safe, easy-to-learn exercise class that increases vitality, mental clarity and calms the spirit.  No experience or special equipment needed, wear comfortable clothing & shoes. Taught by a certified instructor. Tai Chi is a positive & fun experience for everyone-not just those with arthritis. 
  • APPRISE – RSVP APPRISE Medicare Counselors are trained by the State Health Insurance Assistance Program. All counseling is free & confidential.  Meetings can be individual or in groups.  Theresa Lacianco will be counseling at NWAL the fourth Tuesday of each month. Upcoming date:  April 23.   Call 610-834-1040 Ext. 46 with questions or to schedule an appointment.  Times are available from 1-3:30 PM. 
  • Spring Tea on Saturday, April 6 beginning at 11:30 AM– Sign up for a special “welcome to spring” event at the Library.  $30.00/person.  The menu includes:  homemade soup, scones, clotted cream & lemon curd, 5 sandwiches, 4 desserts and special tea!  Limited reservations. 
  • Book, DVD, Puzzle Donations needed – for the Library sale May 16-19 from 8 AM-4 PM.  May 18 will also feature a bake and plant sale.  Sunday, May 19th Bag of Books Sale.  Save the dates!
  • Adult Book Discussion - April 16 - "Another Piece of My Heart " by Jane Green; May 21 - "Middlesex" by Jeffrey Eugenides. Discussions take place Tuesdays each month, from 7 - 9 p.m. Books are available at $10 each.
