Towamencin Police Warn Residents of Phone Scam

Police say callers are targeting elderly by posing as medical professionals

The Towamencin Township Police are warning residents of a phone scam, which currently uses local phone exchanges in the Towamencin region.

Callers, posing as medical professionals, are targeting the elderly, asking the residents about purchasing an “emergency button.” Police say that the callers contact the intended victims multiple times.

Police want to remind all residents never to provide demographic or personal information to any unknown callers. The callers often seem knowledgeable of the residents’ lifestyle and use any additional information provided to them in their scheme.
