Towamencin's Police Chief Tim Dickinson Retires

The longtime lawman has served Towamencin for 15 years.

TOWAMENCIN, PA — A longtime fixture in the local community and the head of the Towamencin Police Department has announced his retirement.

Towamencin Police Chief Tim Dickinson is retiring after a long and honorable career serving the area and other communities around southeastern Pennsylvania.

"Chief Dickinson will be missed as TPD moves forward, but his 15 years of leadership will continue to influence officers and staff that served under him," the department said in sharing the news. "We hope that Chief and his wife will enjoy many years in retirement with their children and grandchildren."

Dickinson began his tenure as Towamencin chief in 2005, but got his start in law enforcement decades early in 1977 with the Lower Moreland Township Police Department.

After 15 years there, he served the Perkasie Borough Police Department as chief from 1992 to 2005.

Among Dickinson's accomplishments touted by Towamencin was the creation of the Highway Safety Unit, leadership on gaining accreditations, and expanded involvement in the North Penn Tactical Response Team and its eventual transition to the Montgomery County SWAT.
