WATCH: Nick Foles Calls Legendary 'Philly Special' In Super Bowl
The biggest play in the biggest game of his life was on the line, and Nick Foles ordered the Philly Special. It was all caught on game mic.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — "You want Philly Philly?"
Nick Foles casually asked the words to his head coach Doug Pederson as he jogged over to the sidelines. It was fourth down and goal. Seconds remained in the first half of the most momentous game of their entire lives. On the field a legendary nemesis had been beaten back on their heels, and here was chance for a knockout blow. The stuff of which backyard childhood fantasies are made. And the words for a highly risky play had been uttered so freely. As if ordering a cheesesteak.
Pederson was quiet for a moment. He looked up and across the field. The crowd deafening.

"Yeah, let's do it," Pederson answered, just as nonchalant.
The rest became Super Bowl lore the moment the play was over, and many of those watching likely had the eerie feeling they were watching a piece of history in the making, something that would be played on highlight reels for decades to come.

In the huddle, Foles called out "Philly Special," and the team broke immediately. The play was only run in practice on three occasions, as Corey Clement and Jay Ajayi would tell Jimmy Kimmel the next evening. "You don't wanna wear the play out," Clement explained.
Clement was right. Three was enough.
The ball was snapped not to Foles, who slid to the right a moment before, but to the running back Clement. Clement then turned and tossed the ball to tight end Trey Burton. Foles ran a few steps into the end zone and turned, catching the pass from Burton.
"That's just a play where you have to feel it and I was feeling it, and when I told Doug what I was feeling, he felt the same way," Foles would later tell reporters, per NFL.com. The Eagles went up 22-12 heading into the half, giving them decisive momentum. Brady and the five-time champion Patriots battled back, but two quarters later, Philadelphia had a Super Bowl championship.
