What Late-Night TV Hosts Said About Eagles Super Bowl Victory

Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and Trevor Noah tackled the Eagles, Philly madness, and more. Watch it here.

PHILADELPHIA, PA —The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions, and the eyes of the nation are suddenly on the scrappy and well-loved team - and its city of infamous fans - that toppled Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Eagles Jay Ajayi and Corey Clement appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, detailing the game, the postgame celebrations (which ran, according to the pair, until 7 a.m.). Their set included a little dig at Brady and praise of Foles.

"They threw it to 12 (Brady) and you saw what happened with that one," Ajayi said, laughing in reference to a New England flea flicker which Brady dropped. "Our quarterback, he gets it done."

"Your acting was so good, I think Clint Eastwood might put you in a movie," Kimmel said in regards to their trick play.

Kimmel also joked that Nick Foles had been traded an hour previous to the show, and Ajayi's and Clement's faces dropped. Then Kimmel told them he was kidding.

Other Late-Night hosts, however, focused on the celebrations and mayhem in Philadelphia after the Eagles won. Stephen Colbert's Late Show played a clip of a fire in the streets of the city and a woman yelling "Philly is on fire!"

"It's hard to tell from that, but that was a screaming inferno of joy," Colbert said.

Seth Meyers' Late Night poked similar fun at the city and Eagles fans.

"The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl last night, 41-33," Meyers said. "Philadelphia then went on to defeat Philadelphia."

And over at Comedy Central's Daily Show, Trevor Noah threw in a dig to a news clip of the incident proclaiming that police had been "left powerless" by the city's celebrations.

"Poor police," Noah said. "What happened? They were like, 'we couldn't do anything, they were white.'"

He also tried to interpret the logic of destructive riots, as many onlookers and analysts (and other Eagles fans) have done.

"Why would you burn your city down when you won? Now I feel the Eagles need to lose just so that they can start fixing things. 'Well there's always next year boys, hand me a wrench.'"
