After the storm, thankful for those that sprang into action.
Many thanks to the people in Limerick & surrounding communities that helped during the storm.
I felt compelled to write today and say a big THANK YOU to those people in our community that helped a little and also those that went above and beyond during the storm. It's a well known fact that Spring-Ford School District made the wrong call on Thursday by not allowing early dismissal. Hindsight is 20/20 and that is not the focus today. From the time I left work yesterday, I could see the helpers. I saw the police and the firemen out there for hours trying to help the people in cars pointed in the ditches and blocking off treacherous roads like the one that takes us home. I saw the plow and salt trucks doing their thing. I saw the bus drivers trying their best to safely drive in the muck with a busload of kids.
I received a phone call from my 12 yr old daughter telling me that her bus couldn't get to our development so they were diverted to Evans Elementary. She told me they were in the gym, having a snack and water and watching the movie, "Tarzan". She wasn't upset, she felt safe and she said she'd be fine until I could make it there to pick her up. When I arrived at Evans Elementary, it was like "command central", they wouldn't let anyone in the side door to access the gym & I saw teachers, secretaries and librarians taking control of the situation well after their work day was over. Thank you Evans Elementary staff, you guys are ROCK STARS!
It was now going on 8 p.m. and I still wasn't able to access our development. A kind neighbor that lives in my development and heard me mention my dilemma, told me to follow them because they know of some access roads we may be able to use. I followed him and we were detoured once and so he tried again. He did lead us home the second time. THANK YOU Rich Hansell, pleasure to meet you sir.

I heard people complain about many things yesterday, but that's not what I focused on. I saw the helpers that stepped up and made it better. I let my kids know that during any storm you should ALWAYS look for the helpers and thank them. These are the people that make our community a great place to live.
