Girls Basketball Presented with National Ranking Trophy

A pep rally at the high school Thursday recognized still more accomplishments.

The Spring-Ford Area High School girls basketball team added another award to their growing collection as they were named a member of the MaxPreps Tour of Champions.

The state-champion team is ranked 27th in the nation, according to MaxPreps, a CBS Sports website that ranks high school teams. They are one of only 18 teams named to the Tour of Champions.

More than 20,000 high schools have girls basketball teams, and MaxPreps uses their own ranking system, the Freeman Rankings, to rank them all. The Freeman Rankings take into account not only wins, but quality wins (wins against other ranked teams), strength of schedule and margin of victory.
