Happy Mother’s Day To Judy Newton

"You have been an excellent mother and friend for my entire life."

In celebration of Mother's Day on Sunday May 13, we asked Patch readers to write a letter to their mother and let us deliver it. This is Mark Newton's letter to his mom:

Dear Mom,

What can I say? You have been an excellent mother and friend for my entire life. We were fortunate that you were able to stay at home to raise Natalie and me. You drove us to all of our various sporting events and never complained. You had our meals waiting for us when we got home and it seemed so seamless. The house was always clean, and our clothes were always washed. We were always very proud to bring friends over to the house because you were very hospitable and always had excellent goodies.

These things did not just magically happen, but it seemed like they did, and you were the magician who did them! Who needed David Copperfield?

After I grew up you became a great friend and grandmother to Morgan. You and Poppy have helped us raise a wonderful young woman. Whether it is driving to watch a boxing match or simply visiting on a Saturday morning doing crosswords and watching old westerns, the time is very special, and we would not give that up for anything.

You were there for Rhonda and me during our recent cancer scare, and you took a number of stressful things off our plate, including driving to the doctor, and gave us the emotional support we needed during the past few months.

I know that I will never be able to repay you for what you have done and still do but I will try each day! I love you, Mom!

Your very thankful and loving son,
Mark
