Ladybugs Bug Out at Chesterbrook Academy

Students released ladybugs as part of an Earth Day celebration.

Royersford's Chesterbrook Academy celebrated Earth Day on Friday with parties in their classrooms and with an outdoor ladybug release Friday morning.

Students and teachers released 3000 ladybugs. Most of the kids were excited to have ladybugs crawling all over their hands - some ladybugs even found their way up sleeves and down shirts!

Principal Donna Baus said Chesterbrook's students had recently learned that ladybugs are beneficial to the environment. Ladybugs eat aphids and other harmful insects on plants, trees and shrubs.
