Limerick Weekend 'Code Red' Forecast: Heat Index Rises Over 100

LIMERICK, PA — Historically hot weather could be on the way to the Limerick-Royersford-Spring City area and region this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, the heat index value could rise over 100, with daily highs in the mid to upper 90s.

  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 96. Heat index values as high as 100. Light west wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning.
  • Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 68. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 93. North wind 5 to 7 mph.
  • Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 73.

A "Code Red" weather warning has been issued for the region from noon on Saturday through 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26. Code Red is issued when the heat could be hazardous to human health.

  • Drink plenty of non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated fluids
  • Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing
  • If at all possible, try to get outdoor work completed during the morning to avoid the warmest part of the day
  • Keep windows and interior doors open when running a fan at home
  • Keep cool by seeking an air-conditioned building if available, if not, seek rest in the shade
  • Most of the Senior Adult Activity Centers (SAACs) are air-conditioned, as are malls and libraries
