Linfield Fire Co. Holds Easter Flower Sale

Proceeds from the annual Easter Flower Sale benefit the Linfield Fire Co. station.

The Linfield Fire Co., located at 1077 Main St. in Linfield, will hold the final day of its annual Easter Flower Sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tulips, mums, hyacinths, azaleas and other colorful heralds of spring are on sale at company’s fire station, but are going fast. According to Lt. Dennis Rumler, a 44-year member of the Linfield Fire Company, the community has always shown strong support for its local firefighters by participating in the fire company’s fundraisers.

“It’s a way to interact with the community,” Rumler said. “We get great support from the local residents and the businesses.”

The Easter Flower Sale, which Rumler said the company has held for at least 50 years now, goes toward amenities and maintenance of the fire station.

This year, however, proceeds from various upcoming fundraisers will also go toward future activities of the Linfield Fire Company’s centennial celebration.

In addition to the Easter Flower Sale, the fire company will hold its popular Easter Egg Hunt at the Linfield Sports Park, located at Longview and Church roads in Limerick.

Rumler said that families are invited to the free event, where they can hunt for dyed, hard boiled eggs, which were decorated by the members of the Linfield Fire Company. He encourages families to get to the event before or at 1 p.m. sharp, as enthusiastic egg hunters are sure to quickly scoop up the hidden spring treasures.
