Royersford Swears In Scott Fennelly As New Police Chief

Veteran law enforcement officer and crisis clinician Scott Fennelly will take over the reins as chief of the Royersford Police Department.

ROYERSFORD, PA — There's been an official changing of the guard in Royersford.

Veteran law enforcement officer and crisis clinician Scott Fennelly will take over the reins as chief of the Royersford Police Department.

Fennelly had been serving as the "officer in charge" of the department. He fills the shoes of previous Royersford chief of police Tom Nerlinger, who held the position from 2014 through Jan. 2019.

Royersford Borough Council, along with Mayor Jenna Antoniewicz, unanimously voted Fennelly as the new chief.

"Our community is very lucky to have Chief Fennelly," Mayor Antoniewicz said in a statement Tuesday night. " I am so pleased to work with him in this capacity. Please join me in congratulating him on this well-deserved position. I remain a proud Mayor to serve with him and all of our officers in our fine police department."

Fennelly previously worked as an officer in West Chester and Uwchlan Township from 1988 to 2012, and then served as a crisis clinician at Pottstown Hospital's emergency room from 2012 to 2014, according to Antoniewicz.

He's served in Royersford since 2013.
