SFYAL Hopes to Start Field Project This Summer
The football league is planning some improvements and some new programs in 2013.

Registration is already open for Spring-Ford Youth Athletic League football and cheerleading, and prior to the season the league will be making some changes at its field near the 5-6-7 Center.Â
In the last two years, the league has completely revamped the lower field near the 5-6-7 Center. This year, they will be placing a building near the field for equipment storage, a snack bar, and a press box.Â
The league also plans a youth multi-media program to start this year, for kids who want to be involved without playing football or cheering. They hope to have kids who will announce the games, write stories about them, film the games, and do the statistics.Â

According to football board president Mike Engo, the league has spent tens of thousands of dollars redoing the topsoil and grass on the field, even renting a piece of equipment called a Rockhound to get the large rocks out of the ground.Â
Because the field is still school district property, Engo and several other board members came before the Spring-Ford Area School Board at the board's work session on March 18. They asked for permission to build the building and addressed some concerns about the league's newly-redone field being used to PE and recess.Â

During the March 25 school board meeting, the board said that the issues had been resolved and granted permission for the building to be built.Â
All in all, it looks like Spring-Ford Youth Football is gearing up for a great year!Â
