Speed Limit Reduction on Lewis Road Requested

Limerick Township made the request earlier this week.

During Tuesday's Limerick Board of Supervisors meeting, township manager Dan Kerr said that he sent a letter to PennDOT requesting that they look at reducing the speed limit on Lewis Road.

The speed limit is currently 45 mph on some parts of Lewis Road. Because it is a state road, the township has to go through PennDOT to make any changes like this.

Keer said that PennDOT will probably do a traffic study and ask for information from the township and the police department.

"They usually ask for crash reports, incident reports, and the police department will give them all the information," Kerr said.

Kerr also said that while the township cannot ask for a specific speed limit in their request, he expects PennDOT would drop it to 35 mph.
