Spring City Resident's Donation Buys Bike Patrol Gear for Police
A local man made a donation which allowed the police department to improve its equipment.
The Spring City Borough Council and the Spring City Police Department recognized local resident Raymond Megay at Monday's council meeting for his recent donation to the Spring City Police Department.Â
Megay donated $5,000 to the Spring City Police Department, and the department and the police committee opted to purchase two bicycles and all the necessary gear so that the borough can have bike patrol officers.Â
This is Megay's second donation. Spring City Police Chief Tony Kuklinski said in an e-mail that Megay donated the same amount last year, and with that money the department was able to purchase some needed tactical gear.Â

Spring City's mayor, Michael Weiss, said that the bike patrols are "working well, they're able to get down into the trail areas in the borough."
Weiss said during the meeting that he wanted Megay recognized because "I've never heard of this being done by a private citizen, to donate money to the borough and the police."
