U.S. 422 Lane Closures Coming Next Week In Limerick Twp.

PennDOT said bridge and pavement repairs will close lanes on U.S. 422 along a 5-mile stretch.

LIMERICK TOWNSHIP, PA — Pavement rehabilitation and structure repair will trim travel oto a single lane next week along 5 miles of U.S. 422.

The construction work is part of a project to repair seven structures and upgrade pavement along a 5-mile section of U.S. 422 between the Royersford/Trappe and Sanatoga interchanges in Limerick and Lower Pottsgrove townships, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said on Friday.

  • Sunday, Aug. 23, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., alternating left or right lane closures will be in place on westbound U.S. 422 between Country Club Road and Evergreen Road;
  • Sunday, Aug. 23, through Friday, Aug. 28, from 7 p.m. to 2 p.m. on the following afternoon, alternating left and right lane closures will be in place on westbound U.S. 422 between Township Line Road and Evergreen Road and at the Limerick and Sanatoga interchanges;
  • Monday, Aug. 24, through Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., lane restrictions with flagging will occur on Troutman Road under U.S. 422 between Ashenfelter Road and Arcola Road;
  • Monday, Aug. 24, through Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., a left or right lane closure will be in place on eastbound U.S. 422 between Airport Road and Lewis Road;
  • Wednesday, Aug. 26, through Friday, Aug. 28, from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., lane restrictions with flagging will occur on Upper Indian Head Road between Cider Mill Road and Winding Ridge Road; and
  • Friday, Aug. 28, from 7 p.m. to 7 p.m. the following evening, alternating left and right lane closures will be in place on westbound U.S. 422 between Township Line Road and Evergreen Road and at the Limerick and Sanatoga interchanges.

Under this two-year improvement project, PennDOT's contractor will mill, overlay and rehabilitate existing U.S. 422 pavement; perform bridge deck repairs, concrete and joint patching, sealing and drainage improvements; install new guide rail and rumble strips; and repair or replace damaged traffic signs along the corridor.

H & K Group Inc. of Skippack, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $19.1 million project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. The entire project is expected to be completed in summer 2021.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the job site, special signage and relevant training.
