'Virtually No Locations' For Legal Fireworks In Royersford: Cops
With Fourth of July celebrations canceled, private fireworks displays have been rampant throughout the region.
ROYERSFORD, PA — With Fourth of July celebrations canceled due to coronavirus health concerns, private fireworks displays have been rampant throughout the region.
Royersford Police issued a warning to the public Thursday reminding residents of the fireworks laws, and urging caution. They added that they would be increasing patrols to ensure community safety over the holiday weekend.
"Please remember that there are virtually no locations in the Borough of Royersford where fireworks can be legally discharged," police said.

The situation has been compounded following the passage of a new state law in 2017 that permits Pennsylvania residents to purchase consumer-grade fireworks. However, there are several limitations to the law which are not being obeyed by revelers in some parts of the area, officials said.

- Fireworks cannot be shot off on public or private property without the permission of the owner
- They cannot be shot within 150 feet of an occupied structure
- They cannot be shot from within a car or building
- They cannot be shot toward car or building
Police added that being compliant with the law was also being mindful of veterans, small children, and animals who are sensitive to the noise.
