What's the Most Expensive Item at Liberty?

It's a thrift store. You might not imagine the treasures it holds inside. But, for Debbie Bechtel, who has worked at the Spring City Liberty Thrift and Home Furnishings store for its five years of operation, she's seen a lot come and go through the store.

What's the most expensive item today? As of Friday morning, that would have to be the "gorgeous" bed set displayed in the front window. For $500, the entire set, including a cleaned mattress and box springs, black metallic bed frame and delicate pink bedspread, currently holds the "title" for the store's highest price tag.

"I wish I could just take it home with me," said Bechtel. "It is just lovely."

The store brings in a wide variety of goods. From movies and clothing, to housewares and furniture, Bechtel says they see a good rotation of goods at Liberty.

"We get a good mix of stuff," she said. 

When asked what the most unique items were, Bechtel said she favors the antiques they get from time to time.

"We also just got a Rascal scooter in, and we're checking to see how well it works," she said. 

Other favorites have included works of art, including paintings, from a local artist.

"We get fabulous artwork here," said Bechtel.

The location accepts donations during all open hours. 

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. The store is closed on Sundays. For more on the store, visit the Liberty Thrift website here.
