Should Lower Macungie Bring Back a Property Tax?

The Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners is hosting the first in a series of three public workshop meetings to discuss the preliminary 2014 township budget Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the township building.
The preliminary budget, presented at the Sept. 19 Board of Commissioners meeting, has generated headlines, largely due to its potential to bring back a property tax in Lower Macungie Township after 12-year hiatus.
The Board of Commissioners typically votes on the final budget in December. There are two more public budget meetings planned for this month: Oct. 9 and Oct. 29.
