Firefighter, Resident Taken To Hospital After Acorn Road Blaze
A Lower Southampton Township fire proved tough to put out Monday morning, due to uneven terrain and difficulty accessing the water supply.
LOWER SOUTHAMPTON, PA — Eleven fire companies and rescue squads responded to a house fire in Lower Southampton Township early Monday morning. One firefighter and one resident of the home were taken to the hospital after suffering heat exhaustion.
The Lower Southampton Fire Department responded to reports of the Acorn Road fire at 3:15 a.m. Monday, to find what they described as "a challenging task." The house was not easily accessible from the road, and supply lines had to be stretched across uneven terrain along Neshaminy Creek, the department said.
"All the crews did a great job maneuvering these challenges and extinguished the fire and protected the neighboring structure from any damage," the department wrote online.

Emergency Medical Services treated several firefighters for heat exhaustion at the scene, and transported the two people in need of further evaluation to the hospital. Crews remained on site for several hours after extinguishing the blaze, continuing to hose down the area to ensure that all embers were extinguished.
Stephen Brookes, Chief of the LSFD, told Patch Tuesday that the fire is still under investigation by the Lower Southampton Township Fire Marshal's Office and the Lower Southampton Police Department.
