Poquessing Select Choir in finals of holiday song competition

Christmas Choir Competition finals to feature Poquessing Middle School Select Choir

The Poquessing Middle School Select Choir is competing in the final round of the 101 MoreFM Christmas Choir Competition on Thursday November 30. Their entry in this contest, which includes schools from throughout the Philadelphia region, is an a capella version of Auld Lang Syne.

The public is invited to vote for their favorite song among three finalists, including Poquessing, at the radio station’s website: https://www.morefmphilly.com/christmaschoir/ from 7 am – 9 pm. Visitors are encouraged to vote as many times as they wish.

The grand prize is $5,000 for the winning choir and the chance to appear at the Kimmel Center with the Philly POPS in December. The Poquessing Middle School Select Choir, under the direction of music teacher Jason Leigh, has been honored several times recently with invitation-only performances including:

  • The National Association for Music Education Eastern Division Conference (11 states)
  • The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association state conference
  • Three consecutive American Choral Directors Association state conferences
  • Appearances on the Preston & Steve Show on 93.3 FM WMMR and the Fox 29 Good Day Philadelphia show with their rendition of the Radiohead song, Creep
