NEW FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER OFFERS JOB SEARCH HELP:

OTHER SERVICES ALSO PROVIDED

The St. John’s Family Resource Center, a community outreach mission sponsored by St.

John’s Anglican Church, offers support services for the unemployed and underemployed. Referrals to helping agencies, churches and organizations throughout the county are also available. The Center recently relocated from Willow Grove to Southampton in Bucks County.

“We are thrilled to be in Bucks County,” Director Helen Miller said. “A lot of people need help with job search skills, whether you’re in your fifties and just lost your job, or you’re a new college graduate. It’s great to meet and network with other people who are in the same boat. We also have counselors on staff to help with issues that grow out of being unemployed, such as financial strain, depression, or family problems.”

Formerly situated in Willow Grove, PA, St. John Family Resource Center has been in operation since March 2015, providing one-on-one services and holding classes for job seekers on topics including resume development and interviewing skills. Additionally, referrals to partner agencies and organizations, such as the BucksMont Collaborative are made. Now the Center has more space, and the opportunity to expand ongoing activities.

Future plans include a STEM Career Camp for students in the summer of 2017. “Underserved youth between the ages of 11 to 14 will have the opportunity to learn about and experience careers in science, technology, engineering and math. There’s a huge demand for these professions that will only grow larger as technology continues to develop and we’re excited to let the kids be part of that,” said Miller.

The Family Resource Center is located at 1150 Bristol Road, in Southampton, PA. Hours of operation are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 9:30 – 4:00, and by appointment. The Resource Center phone number is 215-355-1493. Email: helen@toknowchrist.org
