VFW Hosting Essay Contest for Middle Schoolers

The state winners compete for $46,000 in awards and the first place winner wins $5,000 and a trip to Washington, DC.

A local Veterans of Foreign Wars post is hosting an essay competition and area middle school students are invited to enter.

The Patriots Pen Essay Competition, organized by Yardley Lower Makefield Post 6393, is open to area middle school students in grades six through eight.

Students begin by competing at the Post level. Post winners advance to District. District winners compete in the state competition.

Each year around 125,000 students participate nationwide. Recognition will be awarded at Post 6393 as well for our top three winners.

To enter, students should write a 300 to 400 word essay the following theme: Why I appreciate America’s veterans.

The deadline to enter is Nov. 1.
