Delco Man Convicted Of Raping Child Over 3-Year Period

The abuse began when the victim was 9 years old, and continued for three years. She eventually came forward when she was 13.

MEDIA, PA — A Delaware County man was convicted Thursday of raping a child and related crimes, according to authorities

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer announced the conviction of Aaron Thomas, 26, of Chester for rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, corruption of minors, and indecent assault of a child less than 13 years old.

Thomas will be sentenced on April 27.

The DA's office said the abuse began when the victim was only nine years old, and continued for three years.

She spoke up about the abuse for the first time in late 2018, when she was 13 years old. The defendant was the boyfriend of the victim’s aunt, and the abuse occurred in the home of the victim’s grandmother.

"From the moment the victim disclosed this shocking activity, up to and including the jury verdict, her family members and a team of hard-working professionals came together to bring this child rapist to justice," Stollsteimer said. "In addition to ADA [Danielle S.] Gallaher, I want to acknowledge Danetta Green of Women Against Rape, and Officers Jen Jones and Robert Graves of the Chester Police Department’s Juvenile Division, in particular."
