Delco Student Makes Pennsylvania Attorney General's Drug-Free Calendar
Of 858 entries from 207 schools in 47 counties, a Nether Providence Elementary student's message and art stood out.
A Delaware County fifth grader made it onto the Pennsylvania Attorney General's 20th Annual Drug-Free Calendar Contest.
Jolene Hsu who attends Nether Providence Elementary School won the contest for February, the AG's office said.
The contest tasked on fifth-grade students from across the the Keystone state to create original artwork illustrating a drug-free message of their choice, the AG's office said.

The artwork of 13 students – one for the cover and the others for each month – was selected to appear in the calendar, which is circulated throughout the Commonwealth in an effort to educate the public about the dangers of drug use.
The contest had 858 entries from 208 schools in 47 counties in Pennsylvania, the AG's office said, and students' artwork was selected based on creativity and ability to illustrate and convey a drug-free message.

"This contest creates an opportunity for the Office of Attorney General to connect with students and get them thinking about the dangers of drugs," Attorney General Beemer said in a statement. "We are extremely pleased that so many students took the time to help us share this important message."
The contest winners were invited to the Attorney General's Strawberry Square office in Harrisburg, where they were guests at a luncheon. Staff from the office discussed the dangers of drugs with the students. Each student also received a prize and certificate.
The following students were named the 2016 Drug-Free Calendar Contest winners:

- January – Katherine Morgan, Landisville Intermediate Center, Lancaster County
- February – Jolene Hsu, Nether Providence Elementary School, Delaware County
- March – Karim Ahmed, Kathryn D. Markley Elementary School, Chester County
- April – Samantha Centofante, Edgewood Elementary School, Bucks County
- May – Abby Lee, St. Michael School, Cambria County
- June – Ariana Ramos, Arts Academy Elementary Charter School, Lehigh County
- July – Avery Huber, Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School, Montgomery County
- August – Xena Santiago, C. E. McCall Middle School, Lycoming County
- September – William O’Bryan, Cecil Intermediate School, Washington County
- October – Madison Glenn, Buffalo Elementary School, Butler County
- November – Ava Rusignuolo, Highland Elementary School, Cumberland County
- December – Tyler Janick, St. Michael the Archangel School, Lehigh County
